2023: Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar Wins PDP Presidential Primary

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has won the Presidential Primary of the People Democratic Party (PDP).

Atiku Abubakar polled 371 votes to defeat 13 others aspirant in the primary held on May 28, 2022. Recall that Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal earlier stepped down and endorsed Atiku. His closest Rival, Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike polled a total of 237 votes, while former Senate President, Bukola Saraki polled a total of 70 votes.

In his acceptance speech, the 75 years old PDP Presidential Flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar commended the electoral process and noted that he made a commitment to Nigeria when he started the journey to become the president of the Federal republic of Nigeria.

He noted that the Federal government under that leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari has brought about dis-unity to the country and  promised to unified Nigeria, tackle security and restore Nigeria’s lost glory.

He assured the contestant in the primary of his resolve to work and incorporate them into the Nigeria’s project and pleaded with all aggrieved party to return back to the party.
