Daniel Effiong is an accomplished actor, scriptwriter, filmmaker, and director. Etim Effiong was born in Jaji, Kaduna State and grew up in different states including Edo State, Lagos State and later moved to Abuja.
He studied Chemical Engineering at Federal University of Technology, Minna but had a push in acting that made him travel to South Africa to study Film Marketing, Writing and Directing at the AFDA Film School, South Africa as well as Film Making in Johannesburg.

Early Life and Education
Daniel Effiong was born June 24, 1988 in Jaji, Kaduna State and grew up in different states including Edo State, Lagos State and later moved to Abuja. He was being brought up by strict disciplinarian parents alongside his four siblings. His mother died when he was five years old His father was in the Nigerian Army, Lt. Col. Moses Effiong.
He attended St Mary’s Private School, Lagos Island and Government College Ikorodu, Lagos for his primary and secondary education respectively. He then enrolled for first degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Technology. Then, again, he moved to South Africa to study filmmaking, graduating from the University of Johannesburg.
The 32 years old actor who will be 33 years on June 4, 2022 has really shown that his time and money while studying film making in Johannesburg is not in vain as he has shown outstanding performances on the screen which are garnished and rewarded with awards.
Danny started out in the university when he used to gather friends and narrate the films he has watched to his friends. Sometimes, he will make up stories and tell them about them. These were usually of movies that didn’t exist, and he typically did that when he had run out of movies to share.
Daniel became a content producer for NdianaTV after he quitted his job in the oil and gas sector where he worked briefly. Daniel Effiong started his acting career in 2011 with Nigeria’s first web series Goddamit it’s Monday and then Ndani’s TV’s Gidi Up as the infamous Folarin.
Danniel Effiong doubled as an actor/character model for TV commercials before he eventually got a role as Adze in South African soap opera, Generations: The Legacy. So far in his acting career, Daniel Effiong has featured in about 19 productions.
In 2017, he directed a five-minute-long short film titled, “Prey“, which was produced by his newly wedded wife, Toyosi, featuring Tope Tedala and Odenike Odetola.
He was featured in 2019 by Bland2Glam in her #thePowerof7 campaign to celebrate her seven years in the fashion industry
He featured alongside Kenyan actresses Sarah Hassan and Catherine in the 2019 comedy movie, Plan where he played Dele Coker, a Nigerian CEO of a Nairobi-based company, .The movie got him a nomination in the Best Actor in a Comedy (Movie/TV Series) category at the 7th AMVC awards 2020.
He starred in a number of 2020 movies. He played a lead role in the movie, “Fish Bone“, produced by Editi Effiong also starring Shaffy Bello and Moshood Fattah. He was featured alongside Ike Onyema and Atteh ‘SirDee’ Daniel in the short film, “Storm“, produced by Diane Russet and directed by Michael ‘AMA Psalmist’ Akinrogunde. Still in 2020, he directed a documentary titled, “Skin“, produced by Beverly Naya.
Daneil Effiong has been married to Toyosi Phillips since November 4, 2017. They first met in August 2016 while processing a project. In December 2018, they were said to be expecting a baby. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl, on January 7, 2019.
